our story
The Island’s Best was born from a legacy — not in boardrooms, but in the lush landscapes of rural Sri Lanka.
In a small village surrounded by fertile land and untouched beauty, I grew up immersed in the wisdom of traditional Ayurvedic living. My grandmother, a respected Ayurvedic practitioner, served the local farming community with remedies crafted from carefully preserved herbs, dried flowers, rare roots, and indigenous spices. Her cabinet was not just a collection of plants — it was a treasury of nature’s intelligence.
Access to modern medicine was limited, yet the villagers thrived through generations of botanical knowledge. From an early age, I observed how pure, unadulterated ingredients restored balance, vitality, and strength. That environment shaped my philosophy: when you honor the land, it nourishes you in return.
Years later, academic opportunity carried me to the United States. While building a career abroad, I witnessed a growing global fascination with natural wellness — scientific communities validating what I had long known intuitively. Research highlighting curcumin’s anti-inflammatory properties or cinnamon’s metabolic benefits was groundbreaking to many, yet deeply familiar to me.
The awakening came with clarity: the world was rediscovering what our island had safeguarded for centuries.
Inspired by sustainable agriculture and natural farming philosophies, I made a defining decision — to leave behind certainty and return to Sri Lanka. Back to the soil. Back to the source.
There, I reconnected with the island’s most exceptional botanicals — Ceylon Cinnamon, Ceylon Turmeric, Ceylon Ginger, Hibiscus, Blue Butterfly Pea, and other rare indigenous treasures. Each carried not only remarkable properties, but a story of origin, purity, and heritage.
Further travels deepened this conviction. Observing traditional plant-based nutrition across cultures reinforced a universal truth: nature, when preserved in its purest form, offers extraordinary nourishment.
What once felt ordinary in my village — herbal brews shared at sunrise, restorative infusions after sunset — revealed themselves as rare luxuries to the outside world.
